English Antique Dining Tables

Antique Dining tables styles are often influence by more then one country. In fact one country may take a particular style of furniture from another country and then add their own flavor and twists. English furniture was largely influenced by European furniture design.

The Elizabethan was a English furniture style starting from the renaissance period to late Victorian during the time of Queen Elizabeth. Furniture makers in England during this time were greatly influenced by Italy. Oak and walnut were popular during this period.

However, furniture was still somewhat bare during this period. People preferred to show their extravagance through other things such as tapestries, carpets, and brass cups, rather then chairs and tables.

Elizabethan 16th century tables are very rare and finding a specific style such as antique tables will be difficult. However, there are plenty of other English style tables to select from including the Victorian style. One cannot argue that England did not have a heavy influence on furniture style.

	Baroque is a very popular style that was dominant during the 17th century. While these are beautiful tables, they can also be difficult to attain.
	Queen Victoria ruled in the mid to latter part of the 19th century. During this time furniture was beginning to be manufactured but it also led to a furniture revival. Victorian style remains one of the most popular and available antique furnitures.
	During this period wood dominated the scene. The Jacobean style emerged in the latter half of the Renaissance period. Furniture pieces during this period are not as common as later periods just as the Victorian.
	Tudor was a major English style starting from the renaissance period to late Victorian, which was influenced by European style. Tudor antique dining tables are usually made from oak and the design was greatly influenced by Medieval and Gothic designs.
